Kanpur: The Manchester of India 🏙

Kanpur... This city is the place where I grew up. This city does have so many memories and so many people whom I really wish to have by my side all the time. If anyone asks me to give a speech about my native place, then believe me I can speak at least an hour without hesitation. Okie, coming back to this post, so here I'll share a couple of interesting facts about Kanpur which are known to a very few people.


__ Kanpur? Is this only an ordinary city?

No... no... no... This is not true. A few people are aware that Kanpur is established on March 24, 1803, which came into limelight during the Munity of 1857, led by Nana Sahib. After this, it became one of the favorite spots of Britishers, and they invested a lot in the development of this city. With the time,  this city witnessed several industries, basically leather and textile industry, and a railway route connecting East to West and North to South of British India. After these rapid developments, by 1900s Kanpur was known as the Manchester of India.

Why Manchester of India?

Cause there was a famous saying about Kanpur, this city produces items from a needle size to an airplane size!

__ Name changing game with Kanpur!

You must be surprised to know that Kanpur city is renamed for 11 times. At it started from Kanhiyapur and ended to Kanpur.

__ Lifestyle of Kanpur? 👕

I believe to be in the list of metro cities, Kanpur really does have a simple lifestyle. You find less traffic on roads as compared to other cities, though the center part does have some traffic issues. From taste to stuff, you can find varieties of options here with cheap and great quality. This made us have a pocket-friendly and comfortable lifestyle. You can walkthrough to these famous market of Kanpur:
  • Meston Road Market: From toys to gadgets, plastic to leather. You can varieties of items here at sustainable prices and good quality. When I was a kid, I used to go shopping for toys and games for me. And now I go there for leather goods.
  • Shiwala Market: Famous for garments and footwear hub of ladies. You can find anything in this market other than space.
  • Naveen Market and PPN Market: These markets on top when you do have marriage based shopping. This market is not cheap like others, but they ensure the standard and quality.
  • Chowk Market and Parade Bazar: Remember the Choo-Mantar Gully from Harry Potter? Well, you don't find wizards there, but you surely find all of your study material. Yes, you heard right, there you can find all of your syllabus books, with notebooks on the rate of kilograms, with pens and refills on the bulk rate. I used to visit this place to restore my stock of 3 months. As I love books and crafts do this place is literally a heaven for me!
  • Sagar Market and Som-Dutt Plaza: These markets do have varieties of gadgets and electronic equipment, which you can find under a roof.
Although the list doesn't end here, Kanpur is counted as the best education hub of Uttar Pradesh for the preparation of engineering & medical entrance, NDA, and SSC. Kanpur does have several best Universities, like IIT, CSJMU, HBTU.

__ Famous places of Kanpur?

Kanpur does have some of the famous places, where you can go to have fun:
  • Allen Forest Zoo, Kanpur
  • J.K. Temple, Kanpur
  • Moti Jheel, Kanpur
  • Blue World Theme Park, Bithoor
  • Brahmavart Ghat, Bithoor
  • Tapeshwari Devi Mandir, Kanpur
  • Siddhi Dham Shudhanshu Ashram, Bithoor
  • Sai Darbar, Bithoor
  • Kailash Mandir, Kanpur
So the conclusion to all, now Kanpur might not be a famous spot in India. But yeah this city does have so many unordinary places to visits and things to try (Maybe not for others, at least for me). Last but not least...

This place is old,
but not the worst.

May dealing with bad phase,
but had a good phase once.

We blame the corrupted government,
however, we ignore us.

Maybe we forget,
